Security & Fraud Protection

It's always a top priority at Metropolitan.

When you choose Metropolitan Bank, you're choosing a financial partner who understands it's just as critical to protect your sensitive and valuable data as it is to keep your funds secure. You can also do your part by reviewing our policies, practices, and recommendations for protecting your security. Please note that the email addresses below are not secure email links. Do not include sensitive information, such as account numbers or social security numbers, in your message.

Using Online Banking

Security is a top priority at Metropolitan. Our tight password verification process helps to ensure that only authorized users access accounts online. To learn more about how we keep your account information secure online, review details about Metropolitan Online Banking. If you need assistance with online banking, please call 601.853.0000.

Using Debit Cards

Debit cards offer convenient access to funds whether you're in town or traveling abroad. To maintain security, we recommend that you report any lost or stolen Metropolitan debit card immediately by calling 601.853.0000. Simply tell the Customer Service Representative that you are a client of Metropolitan Bank. We also suggest that you notify a Client Service Advisor if you're scheduling international travel and you plan to use your debit card. The advisor will make sure that your card is authorized and activated for international transactions.

Stopping Payment

If you believe checks have been lost or stolen or you'd simply like to stop payment on a particular check, contact a Client Service Advisor at your local Metropolitan location. To ensure immediate assistance, we recommend that you make contact by phone rather than e-mail.

Phishing and E-Mail Fraud

At Metropolitan, we will never put your account at risk by asking you to verify personal information, such as your Social Security number, password, PIN or account number by e-mail or through an e-mail link to a website. Even if you provide no sensitive information by e-mail, simply clicking a fraudulent link could expose your operating system to a virus or spyware that allows criminals to capture your keystrokes, sometimes revealing passwords and confidential information. If you receive a suspicious e-mail that appears to come from Metropolitan, please immediately forward the email to .

Protecting Children's Privacy

At Metropolitan, we have the utmost respect for the privacy of children and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The act protects children under the age of 13 from the collection of personal information on the Internet. We do not knowingly market to children or collect any personally identifiable information, including e-mail addresses or names. With privacy and security in mind, children 13 years of age or younger are not eligible to open online accounts at Metropolitan.
